In un paesino di montagna, Leucio, un giovane contadino sordo a causa di un incidente, vive in solitudine dedicandosi al lavoro nei campi. Un giorno, trasportando della legna, passa davanti alla stalla di un’asinella, Lucia, e riesce inspiegabilmente a sentire in modo nitido il suo raglio. Stupito, ignora l'evento ma, quella stessa sera, sente di nuovo ragliare e corre dall’asinella per darle da mangiare. Nasce così un'amicizia singolare che riesce ad scalfire la solitudine patita da entrambi i protagonisti, e che trova il suo apice quando l’asinella e Leucio riescono a comunicare, abbattendo ogni barriera linguistica. 

In a mountain village, Leucio, a young farmer who is deaf due to an accident, he lives in solitude dedicating himself to work in the fields. One day, while carrying some wood, he passes in front of the stable of a little donkey, Lucia, and inexplicably manages to hear something her bray is clear. Astonished, he ignores the event but, that same evening, he hears braying again and he runs to the donkey to feed her. Thus was born a singular friendship that manages to scratch the loneliness suffered by both protagonists, and which finds its peak when the donkey and Leucio manage to communicate, breaking down any language barrier.
