The Mostra d'Oltremare: A New Naples recounts the art, urban planning, propaganda, wars, and transformations that accompanied the Mostra d'Oltremare [Overseas Exhibition Center] in Naples, a vast 72-hectare (178-acre) space created during Fascism as a modern exhibition center for Mediterranean cultures, particularly colonial ones. The idea was to create a new, modern, tourist-friendly neighborhood with extraordinary attractions such as stunning art pavilions, thermal baths, a hippodrome, and a zoo. This documentary celebrates the art behind the project, its post-Fascist evolution, and the urban planning concept.
